F.A.Q.

What's involved in the installation?

We arrive at your house, cottage or business with a wireless antenna, some cable, some tools and some parts. We find the location with the best signal we can get, then we mount the antenna to the structure. From there we run a cable inside the house to a power inserter, this powers the radio that's sitting on the roof. This is the called the demarcation point and the place where you can plug in your computer or router. When mounting the radio's we always take special care and precautions to seal any holes and to mount things out of normal sight when we can. We know that you may not find the radio's as attractive as we do!

Do you have bandwidth caps?

The short answer is yes, we do, as does every ISP out there. The long answer is that our contract says that every user has fair access to our service. If you are using substantially more bandwidth than the average user or are causing problems, we'll ask you to tone it down. We're not so concerned if it happens one month, but if it starts to become a pattern we might. That being said, we have yet to ask anyone to tone down their usage.

Do you block any services?

We believe in net neutrality and therefore do not bock any ports or services. You are free to do what you wish with your connection provided you're not running large servers or anything that would cause issues to others. Illegal activity is also not tolerated, this includes spamming.

Do you have SLA's

We don't have service level agreements or guarantee uptime. Basically our job is to provide you with internet. If we don't do that very well, we'd have no customers. The service isn't perfect and there are many influences that can affect service such as power outages in local and even remote locations can interrupt service. In most cases, these problems are out of our hands and someone else is already working on fixing it! We have monitoring systems in place and can usually tell if there are issues on our end. Here's our guarantee to our customers:

We'll do our best to keep service as smooth and uninterrupted as possible! If something goes wrong we'll do what we can to have it repaired as soon as we can.

I'm using your connection while I'm away from home, but can't send emails out! WHY?

The most likely cause is that your home provider, the one who controls your email blocks people from using their servers who aren't on their network. They do this to stop spam and we all hate spam! Contact your provider and they might be able to provide you with a secure way of connecting to their outgoing email server. If they don't offer a solution for you, we can help you out, just send us an email........just kidding, give us a call, we'll be able to help you out. We have set up our email servers on alternate ports and have also set it up so that anyone who tries to use our server requires a username and password.

I only use my cottage for the summer months, do I have to take service for the full year?

NO! We have seasonal packages available. This package allows you to have the benefits of internet at the lake, but not the expense of paying for it during the winter, it's a win-win situation! A question often asked is, “If I sign up for seasonal service, do I have to pay an installation fee every year?” Nope, it's a one time only fee!

Is television service available?

Unfortunately no. There are just so many other options out there for TV that it doesn't make sense for us to offer it. If you're in the Whiteshell area one of our installers does sell and install satellite TV and would be more than happy to answer any questions you have.

What's the best way to contact you?

Like you, we're all busy people. We are in meetings, out in the field and just generally working which means we can't always answer the phone. We have voice mail and will return you call if we can't answer it.

The best way to reach us is through email or text messages which can be found in the contact us. We can't always answer our phones, but we can get emails and even if we're in a meeting or out in the field which means you'll get a response quicker. We have seen an increase in this type of communication, reducing stress on your end and ours
